Walking Cinema - From Lab to Real World

It started with a small app developed in an MIT lab in 2003.

Running around Beacon Hill on a beautiful spring day in 2003 with clunky handheld devices testing a GPS-based video playback platform, it became obvious that no something really fun could be done with outdoor cinematic narratives.  But the storytelling needed to be right.

The opportunity to deepen the narrative approach came in 2004 when the Venice Biennale sponsored the first ever mobile media documentary:  HISTORY UNWIRED.  Based on the lives of unconventional artisans, our first narrative production brought praise from Wired Magazine, locals,a nd travelers.  Walking Cinema was born.  And since then the team led by Director Michael Epstein has produced numerous award-winning projects for museum, broadcast, and urban design clients.
